Originally from Birmingham, Dr. Laith Matalka earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and went on to complete his dental degree at the UAB School of Dentistry. His passion for transforming smiles took root during his intensive General Practice Residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center—one of the nation’s leading programs for implant dentistry and surgical training.
Throughout his residency and subsequent years in private practice, Dr. Matalka has developed a deep expertise in implant dentistry. He has placed thousands of dental implants, completed over 500 hours of implant-focused continuing education, and continues to refine his skills through advanced surgical, restorative, and digital dentistry programs.
Dr. Matalka has earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI), a distinction that reflects his advanced training, clinical experience, and commitment to excellence in implant dentistry. He is also actively working toward his Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI) and continues to pursue the highest levels of clinical mastery in his field.
He is a proud member of leading professional organizations including the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He has also earned a fellowship distinction from the California Implant Institute.
Certified in advanced bone grafting and IV sedation, Dr. Matalka is equipped to handle even the most complex surgical and full-arch restorative cases with precision and patient comfort in mind.
Dr. Matalka and his wife, Karli, live in Hoover with their two sons, Micah and Eli, and their Aussiedoodle. Outside the office, they enjoy hiking, board games with friends, exploring Birmingham’s restaurant scene, and staying active in their church community at Trinity United Methodist.
His mission in dentistry is simple: to transform lives by giving patients the smile of their dreams—safely, predictably, and comfortably.
Dr. Thieu Vo graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. During dental school, Dr. Vo was awarded the Birmingham District Dental Society Award for his outstanding clinical abilities overall in his class and the Brian D. Stone Memorial Award for his clinical charity contributions to the community. He is also a member of Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International College of Oral Implantologists, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
After graduation, Dr. Vo completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at Johnston Memorial Hospital, where he received extensive training in dental implant placement, bone grafting, cosmetic dentistry, extractions, and a wide range of surgical procedures.
Dr. Vo has also completed a year-long esthetic and veneer fellowship focused on advanced smile design and comprehensive cosmetic rehabilitation. During this fellowship, he received specialized training in porcelain veneers, minimally invasive preparation techniques, digital smile design, adhesive dentistry, and complex esthetic case planning. The program emphasized precision, facially driven treatment planning, and the artistry required to create natural, functional, and long-lasting smiles.
Dr. Vo is extremely passionate about his work and strives to stay at the forefront of modern dentistry techniques and advancements in order to provide the highest quality of care to his patients.
Dr. Vo resides in Birmingham, AL with his wife, Dr. Amanda Fang, who is a Plastic Surgery Resident at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. During his spare time, Dr. Vo enjoys jiu-jitsu. He is currently a purple belt, and has placed in several tournaments.

Dr. Chang’s expertise ensures that patients can undergo complex procedures, such as full-mouth rehabilitation, in complete comfort and safety under general anesthesia.
Dr. Chang is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Management, a distinction that reflects his deep expertise and commitment to patient well-being. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center and received advanced training during a pain fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, a national leader in medical care. Dr. Chang’s extensive background also includes conducting research in complex medical fields at renowned institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center.
With a comprehensive approach to care, Dr. Chang is dedicated to working alongside Dr. Matalka to provide a seamless and stress-free experience. His focus is on ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the procedure, helping you feel at ease and confident as you regain your function and a new quality of life.
Tyler is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with more than 15 years of experience in providing anesthesia care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties. In addition to his extensive experience in oral surgery and dental anesthesia, his clinical background also includes cardiothoracic surgery, obstetrics, trauma, pediatrics, and general surgical anesthesia.
He earned his Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from Samford University in addition to his Bachelors of Science in Nursing. He is nationally certified by the NBCRNA and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Tyler and his wife, Heather live in Trussville along with their two daughters, Caroline and Mary Claire. He is an active member of First Baptist Church of Trussville where he volunteers for various ministries. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, road cycling, and spending time at the lake.
